It is a mix of rural, commuter and town with a large London overspill group who moved here in the 1960's. It houses a Comprehensive Care Status Haemophilia Centre and one of two national sites for the treatment of pseudomyxoma peritonii. Other interests include bowel cancer and surgical treatment of secondary liver cancers.
